One of the Minor Arcana from he Suit of Swords in the Tarot, the Nine of Swords in an upright position is aligned to the energies of fear-based thoughts, externally focused anxiety, sleepless nights, and depression. In a reverse position it is aligned to inner-turmoil, personal anxieties, keeping things to yourself, and releasing personal worries.
Overall, the Nine of Swords focuses on all the things that could go wrong as they come about in our own minds which, if we are not careful, can become self-fulfilling prophecies. It has the ideals of letting go of such fears over time if we can overcome our fears in relation to what happens with these being let go. Anxiety levels can become out of hand if not kept in check and the appearance of this card can often indicate that there is a need to start to work through these in positive ways.
