Tarot

Hailing from the mid fifteenth century, Tarot, or as it was known originally, Tarrochi, started as a form of playing cards of which over time became a Divination system known as Cartomancy. Such a system focuses on providing insight into one’s past, present, and future with the more modern approaches looking at providing guidance of a healing nature.

Comprising of seventy-eight cards, Tarot has a structure that has come to be widely accepted over the centuries with little to no variations on this. It is made up of twenty-two Major Arcana cards that signify major life events or particular archetypes in life, and fifty-six Minor Arcana cards which highlight the finer details that connect life events.

Illumination through the tarot is provided through a reader interpreting the cards as they are laid out in a spread. Such a spread is often aligned to a theme of what is being sought. A Past, Present, Future Spread which involves three cards is a great example as it provides some quick insight into what has been, what is happening in the moment, and how things will be if nothing changes.
